Vision Mate
Description
CNIB passionately provides community-based support, knowledge and a national voice to ensure Canadians who are blind or partially sighted have the confidence, skills and opportunities to fully participate in life. To do that, we work with people of all ages in their own homes and communities, providing the services and support they need to rediscover their independence. Vision Mates provide sighted assistance to a person who is blind or partially sighted and are carefully matched with that person based on mutual interests. Activities may include reading, shopping, recreation assistance, community access, going for walks and social visiting. Vision Mates volunteer in their own neighbourhood, on days and times that are convenient for them (including evenings and weekends).

Qualifications
Vision Mates must be reliable, patient, responsible and friendly. Before you are placed as a Vision Mate, you will have to undergo a background check, including a police vulnerable sector check, supply positive references, and attend a Vision Mate training session.
