SUMMARY:Deadline to submit | Community Mentorship Scholarship Award
DESCRIPTION:In the spirit of community champions\, the committee of the Ronald P. Smyth Memorial Scholarship Fund and the United Way are seeking nominations from community organizations for the 17th annual Kim Halliday Memorial Community Mentorship Scholarship Award (A division of the Ron Smyth Memorial Scholarship). The candidate who best meets the criteria will receive an award up to a maximum of $5\,000 for one year ($2\,500.00 per term). \nWe mark 17 years of partnership\, 17 years of amazing organizations and groups making the commitment to support inspiring individuals chasing their educational goals! After 17 years they are beginning to make their mark in our community and the world. \nIn building the road to life-long learning\, we know that financial stress is not the only challenge to completing post-secondary education. \nFor a young person\, there are all the challenges that come from entering this chapter of their lives. For the adult learner\, often returning to studies after an extended break includes unique challenges. \nHow can you best support a young or adult learner to realize their potential given the challenges they face? Support them and nominate them! \nPlease find attached a document that explains the criteria for selecting your candidate\, the steps to follow to submit the pertinent information\, the role you will play as a mentor\, and a few inspiring highlights from the lives of Kim Halliday and Ron Smyth. Please also note the additional element of a description of expected expenses related to education to be submitted with this year’s application. The successful recipient is usually honoured at the Ron Smyth Awards dinner sometime in May at NBCC. \nAll information\, including your letter of nomination\, must be sent to the scholarship committee by the deadline date of March 17\, 2025. \nIf you have any questions\, please do not hesitate to contact us. You may also visit the live Lunch ‘n Learn on Facebook that we held previously\, where we addressed frequently asked questions. \nPaul Toner \nSincerely\,\nMelissa Moualed\, Administrative Assistant/Adjointe administrative   \noffice@moncton.unitedway.ca \nCommunity Mentorship Scholarship Award_ 2025 \nApplication ADULT_ 2025 \nApplication YOUTH_ 2025

SUMMARY:Coalition for Pay Equity
DESCRIPTION:Let’s Work Together for Fair Pay & Better Conditions for Non-Profits and Charities \nI’m reaching out to invite you to participate in an important initiative aimed at advancing fair pay and better working conditions in the community non-profit sector. Our colleagues at the Moncton-based Coalition for Pay Equity have launched a 30-month project called “Fair Pay and Just Conditions of Work in the Community Non-Profit Sector.” This project seeks to promote fair wages and equitable working conditions through advocacy for improved policies and practices within our sector\, among funders\, and with government decision-makers. A one-page project description is attached for your reference.  \nThe United Way of Greater Moncton and SENB sits on the Sector Advisory Committee (SAC) for this project\, and we are committed to ensuring that the voices of our regions are heard loud and clear. Province-wide initiatives—whether based in Moncton\, Fredericton\, or Saint John—require strong participation from all three major cities to be truly representative. Your voice and that of your organization would be a valuable addition.  \nYou may have already received the following invitation but just in case you didn’t or missed it in your inbox I wanted to include it.  \nInvitation: Learning Circles on Fair Pay and Just Working Conditions  \nThe New Brunswick Coalition for Pay Equity is inviting women and gender-diverse individuals working in the community non-profit sector to participate in a 2-hour Learning Circle. These sessions will explore the root causes of low wages and working conditions in the sector.  \nWho We Are Looking For:  \n• Women and gender-diverse individuals—including Indigenous\, racialized\, and immigrant women\, as well as women with disabilities—  \n• Working in any role within non-profit organizations that provide social services or engage in advocacy.  \nWhat Participants Will Gain:  \n• A safe space to share their day-to-day experiences in the sector.  \n• An opportunity to learn from their coworkers’ perspectives.  \n• A chance to discuss potential solutions for improving wages and working conditions.  \n\n\n\nSchedule of Sessions Date \nLocation \nTime \nAccessibility \n\n\nMarch 21 \nMoncton (EN) – The Atrium \n10 AM–12 PM (Front-line Workers) 1 PM–3 PM (Executive Directors) \nWheelchair accessible\, non-gendered bathrooms \n\n\nMarch 24 \nSaint John (EN) – Social Enterprise Hub \n10 AM–12 PM (Front-line Workers) 1 PM–3 PM (Executive Directors) \nWheelchair accessible\, non-gendered bathrooms \n\n\nMarch 25 \nFredericton (EN) – Odell Lodge \n10 AM–12 PM (Front-line Workers) 1 PM–3 PM (Executive Directors) \nWheelchair accessible \n\n\nMarch 28 \nMoncton (FR) – The Atrium \n10 AM–12 PM (Front-line Workers) 1 PM–3 PM (Executive Directors) \nWheelchair accessible\, non-gendered bathrooms \n\n\nMarch 31 \nCaraquet (FR) – Acadian Peninsula Volunteer Center \n10 AM–12 PM (Front-line Workers) 1 PM–3 PM (Executive Directors) \nNon-wheelchair accessible\, non-gendered bathrooms \n\n\n\nA free lunch will be provided from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM at all sessions.  \nWe encourage employers to support employees’ participation during working hours. If this isn’t possible\, honorariums can be provided\, and transportation costs will be reimbursed as needed. Additional support can be arranged—please reach out in advance.  \nInterested participants can register until March 14.  \nFor more information\, please contact: Cecilia Perez-Plancarte at cecilia.perez-plancarte@equite-equity.com.  \nYour Role and How You Can Support This Effort  \nWe understand that your schedule as an Executive Director is demanding\, but we strongly encourage you to attend the afternoon session for EDs on March 21st in Moncton. Your insights and leadership are vital to this discussion. Additionally\, if possible\, we hope a front-line worker from your organization can join the March 28th session that will be held in French. I apologize for the short notice  \nThis is an opportunity to have your voice and your organization’s perspective shape this important provincial initiative.  \nThank you for your time and consideration. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.  \nThanks everyone\,  \nDebbie  \nEnglish Invitation – Coalition For Pay Equity
