DESCRIPTION:The NTG Canadian Consortium is now offering Dementia Capable Support of Adults with Intellectual Disabilities & Dementia training. This training is offered as a two-day “basic” course or a three-day “NTG-Canada Affiliated Regional Trainer” course. It is based on the evidence-informed NTG Education and Training Curriculum on Dementia and Intellectual & Developmental Disabilities. \n2 DAY BASIC WORKSHOP\nTarget Audience: The workshop is appropriate for any staff with direct or ancillary support responsibilities of older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in disability-related\, health care\, and aging-related agencies. (Direct Support Professionals\, PSWs\, Supervisors\, Long Term Care personnel\, Alzheimer Society\, etc.)\nDescription: This highly interactive and evidence-informed workshop covers the basic concepts of support of an adult with intellectual disabilities and dementia. Topics include: Introduction to Aging & ID • Understanding Dementia in Adults with ID • What is Dementia? How does it present differently in Adults with ID? • Early Detection and Screening for Dementia in ID • Obtaining a Diagnosis • Health Care Advocacy for Adults with ID and Dementia • Understanding Responsive behaviors associated with Dementia • Non-pharmacologic Interventions • Communication Tips & Strategies • Adapting the Physical Environment • Dementia Capable Homes • Stage-based Considerations • Bridging Aging and Disability Networks.\nCosts: Standard registration fee is $350 per participant \n3 DAY “REGIONAL TRAINER” WORKSHOP\nTarget Audience: The workshop is appropriate for staff with direct or ancillary support responsibilities of older adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in disability-related\, health care\, and aging-related agencies who will take a leadership role in developing dementia capable supports in their region and want to become an “NTG-Canada Affiliated Trainer.”\nDescription: The first two days of the workshop cover the topics outlined in the 2 Day Basic Workshop. A third day is devoted to understanding and delivering NTG Dementia Capable Care Curriculum materials. NTG Affiliated Trainers are authorized to use some of the NTG branded and copyrighted training materials to train within their own organization or to conduct training for outside agencies and organizations. Affiliated trainers have access to expanded topic modules\, NTG continuing education webinars\, and are mentored by NTG Canadian Master Trainers. Following completion of the workshop participants are required to successfully complete an online test of knowledge before they will be awarded a certificate of completion and receive NTG branded and copyrighted training materials.\nCosts: Standard registration fee is $550 per participant. \nOutcome: Greater understanding of dementia and its effects on people with intellectual disabilities\, greater capacity to provide dementia-capable direct services to adults with ID and dementia\, and knowledge of how to develop a dementia-capable environment and support. \nNOTE: Register by clicking on the course title that you would like to register in. DESCRIPTION:BRAVE 2023! is an exciting upcoming event designed specifically for Female-Identifying Individuals Ages 12-18 happening on March 18th. The Salvation Army in Moncton is proud to partner once again with Brave Global Canada to host their 2023 Empowerment Event.  \nPerhaps there are a youth or two in your sphere of influence who comes to mind\, that you feel could benefit from an empowerment event like this. We strive to engage with social workers\, law enforcement\, schools and community organizations to reach the most vulnerable girls and at-risk youth in their areas to show them we see them\, they matter\, and they are not alone.  \nDetails are attached (including a QR code to register) for our local event happening on March 18th and more information about BRAVE can be found at About — Brave Canada (braveglobal.ca) or Brave Global – Bravery in the ordinary can lead to a life that is extraordinary. \nBRAVE intentionally reaches vulnerable girls (foster care/probation/sexual abuse/divorce).\nBRAVE sees empowerment as the GOAL.
