VOLUNTEER POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position title: Vision Mate for coffee and errands together.
Number of volunteer required: 3
Type of work: Friendly help
Description : For some Canadians who are blind or partially sighted, going for a coffee or running errands can involve some unique challenges.

During this unprecedented time, one of the easiest things we can do is reach out to each other to engage in friendly conversation and offer support.

Through the Vision Mate program, CNIB engages engages volunteers to connect with participants at least once a week.

It can be difficult for people with sight loss to always feel connected with the community. If you’re willing to help, we’d love to hear from you. Together, we’ll ensure our community stays connected.

QUALIFICATIONS :
Skills: The Vision Mate program gives volunteers an opportunity to engage in friendly conversations with people who are blind or partially sighted.

Volunteers will be screened, and you’ll have an opportunity to ask questions before you’re connected with someone with sight loss. The next step is for you and the person with sight loss to be introduced by phone or online. We will provide you with a handy conversation guide to help you get started.

Requirements: For this position, we are looking for someone who is friendly, reliable, conscientious, sociable and interested and available to complete an orientation and training to CNIB.
