Description of volunteer work
1st Moncton St. George’s Scouting group is Moncton’s oldest Scouting Group and the only remaining group in the city that Services the youth in the downtown core. We are looking for Volunteer leaders For our Scouting(11-14 yrs old) and Cub Scout (8-10 yrs old) Programs, who can bring some fresh perspective and ideas and who want to help youth learn about and enjoy the outdoors, explore the world around them and learn about, help and participate in their community. We’re looking for someone who would be interested in taking charge of our program, invigorating it with their energy and fresh ideas.
Skills
A passion for working with and teaching youth is really all you need. Outdoor/camping skills are great to have too but we will train and give you any and all skills you will need to succeed, even if you’ve never done any outdoor activities. Scouts Canada provides training to all new leaders and there are opportunities to network with other leaders and participate in training
Requirements
The positions will require a formal interview, a reference check, a Criminal record check and some mandatory training some of which is required right away, the remainder can be completed within a year of becoming a leader.

The Scouting program follows the School year, September to June., With one camp or activity usually held in the summer over a weekend.

Meetings are once a week for 2 hours with an outdoor event on a weekend every 6 weeks or so. on average its 10-15 hours a month
