#beccatoldmeto Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award
Volunteer Centre of Southeastern New Brunswick in partnership with the City of Dieppe, City of Moncton and the Town of Riverview.

The #beccatoldmeto Outstanding Youth Volunteer Award was created in honour of Becca Schofield as her #beccatoldmeto acts of kindness has inspired so many young individuals to make a difference in our community.

Each year, the Volunteer Centre of Southeastern New Brunswick calls for nominations of deserving youth volunteers.

YOUTH VOLUNTEER CRITERIA (last year)

  • Be a youth between 15 and 25 years.
  • Demonstrates how their volunteer effort and/or act of kindness has impacted someone’s life and/or the community.
  • Demonstrates initiative and creativity.
  • Serves as a role model for others in his/her community.
  • Be nominated by an individual or organization. {please include e-mail and telephone number}.

Submissions accepted either in a word document {not to exceed one page} or video {not to exceed five minutes}. Include a photo of the nominee for promotional purposes.

5. Becca Schofield: The terminally-ill Riverview teen warmed hearts throughout the year. After doctors gave her three months to a year to live in late 2016, Rebecca Schofield and her family went public with a wish for people to do acts of goodwill in her name, and report their deeds on social media with the hashtag #BeccaToldMeTo. And the public responded. Posts on Facebook and Twitter about shoveled walkways, prebought coffees and neighbours helping neighbours poured in, including from Justin Trudeau, NHL sportscasters and
international broadcasters. The N.B. Legislature unanimously proclaimed a Becca Schofield Day and this Christmas
thousands of letters, cards and notes were mailed to the Schofield’s home.
