Description of volunteer work
The NBRC (http://www.nbrc-crnb.ca/) is a bilingual, charitable organization providing free legal aid to refugee claimants and other newcomers pursuing risk-based immigration applications who cannot afford the services of a private lawyer. As demand for our services continues to grow, we are seeking committed leaders to help guide our mission and strengthen our impact. We are currently accepting nominations for one (1) volunteer Director to join our Board for a two-year term beginning April 2026.

Skills and Requirements
The Director is responsible for active participation and involvement in the activities of the NBRC and Board of Directors.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Attend and participate in monthly Board meetings
  • Demonstrate commitment to NBRC’s mission and programs
  • Provide leadership and contribute to strategic and governance matters
  • Lead special committees / participate in initiatives

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Must reside in New Brunswick
  • Demonstrated professional experience in leadership, governance or management
  • Relevant education or work experience
  • Experience in the non-profit sector is considered an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset
  • Ideal for a high energy leader with a strong interest and belief in the NBRC’s community mandate

Time Commitment

  • 1-3 hours per month
  • One evening meeting per month, plus preparation time
  • Two-year appointment beginning April 2026 Location & Accessibility
