About VCB
Incorporated in 1976, the Volunteer Centre of Southeastern New Brunswick Inc. is an established, multi-service non-profit organization serving communities across Southeastern New Brunswick and other regions of the province. A member of Volunteer Canada, VCB combines a strong social mission with an entrepreneurial approach to meeting community needs. Its programs include respite care, family support, and shared attendant care.
Through grants, donations, fee-for-service activities, and other earned-income strategies, VCB develops financially sustainable services and reinvests all surplus into the communities it serves. Its approach focuses on addressing unmet needs without duplicating services already available in the community.
The Opportunity
VCB is seeking an Executive Director who can connect strategic leadership, community impact, and financial sustainability. Reporting to a community-based Board of Directors, you will lead staff and day-to-day operations, serve as the organization’s chief fundraiser and public representative, and guide the development of innovative, mission-driven services.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and governance. Work closely with the Board on strategic planning, policy development, and forward-looking governance. Lead a team of more than 50 employees, oversee day-to-day operations, and provide monthly financial and program reports to support effective Board oversight. Preserve institutional knowledge, maintain established relationships, and ensure continuity while bringing fresh perspectives and ideas.
- Fund development and partnerships. Lead fundraising and build a culture of philanthropy. Cultivate donors, pursue grants, strengthen community and government partnerships, and develop earned-income opportunities that support the mission.
- Programs and social impact. Oversee program delivery, measure and evaluate outcomes, and scale effective services. Identify unmet community needs and develop innovative responses that balance social impact with financial viability.
- Financial management and accountability. Oversee financial planning, diverse funding sources, and audits. Maintain legal and fiscal accountability and ensure responsible stewardship of the organization’s resources.
- Risk, privacy, safeguarding, and safety. Oversee organizational risk management, privacy, safeguarding, regulatory compliance, and workplace safety. Maintain appropriate policies and practices to protect the people VCB serves, employees, and volunteers, reflecting the nature of VCB’s services and applicable requirements.
What You Bring
- Executive leadership. A minimum of 8 to 10 years of executive leadership experience, ideally within the social non-profit sector.
- Relevant education and experience. Education in business administration, public policy development, non-profit management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
- Financial management expertise. A proven track record of financial management for a multi-million-dollar operation.
- Social entrepreneurship knowledge. A deep understanding of blended finance, social return on investment, and systematic incubation frameworks for developing and growing mission-driven initiatives.
- Fundraising and relationship-building. The ability to develop funding opportunities, build productive partnerships, and represent the organization effectively with donors, funders, government, and community stakeholders.
- Strategic and operational leadership. The ability to work collaboratively with a Board, lead staff, translate strategy into action, and use financial and program information to guide decisions.
- Language skills. Fluency in both English and French would be considered an asset.
Why Lead VCB?
This is an opportunity to lead a long-established organization with an entrepreneurial approach to community service. You will help shape its next chapter by strengthening financial sustainability, growing social impact, and developing services that respond to real gaps in the communities VCB serves.
