Mill Creek Nature parkrun is looking for 4 to 8 volunteers each week to help deliver its free, weekly 5 km community event at Mill Creek Nature Park in Riverview.
Several volunteer positions are available, and volunteers may choose the Saturdays that work best for their schedule.
Volunteer Positions
- Course Setup:
Place signs along the course before the event. - Timer:
Time participants using a mobile phone app. - Course Marshal:
Stand at an assigned location and direct participants along the course. - Barcode Scanner:
Provide finish-line support and scan participant barcodes as they complete the event. - Tail Walker:
Walk behind the participants and collect signs and cones as the event progresses. - Visually Impaired Runner Guide:
When needed, run alongside a visually impaired participant and provide guidance throughout the course. Volunteers for this position must be able to run 5 km in approximately 35 to 38 minutes.
Skills
Enthusiasm is the main skill required. All training and instructions will be provided on site before the event.
Schedule and Commitment
Events take place every Saturday morning. Volunteers are welcome to participate weekly or select the dates that suit their schedule.
- Most volunteer positions:
Saturdays from 8:45 a.m. to approximately 10:30 a.m. - Course setup:
Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 8:30 a.m.
Finish times may vary slightly from week to week.
Additional Information
- This opportunity is suitable for youth between 13 and 17 years old.
- English and French are both considered assets.
- Training is provided on site and requires minimal time.
- The event takes place at Mill Creek Nature Park in Riverview.
